Maybe Hawaii’s notorious ‘island time’ has more to do with traffic than anything else. Despite a new report indicating a 30 percent drop in traffic congestion across the U.S., drivers in Honolulu still waste 58 hours each year sitting in their cars. The study was produced by INRIX, a company devoted to traffic information and apps, which analyzed the data from some 100 million GPS-equipped commercial and passenger vehicles, traveling on an estimated 300,000 miles of roads. The 10 Most Painful Stings On The Planet

Most of us will have felt the pain of a bee sting. Luckily most of us will have avoided the dreaded pain of a tarantula hawk or a fire ant. Justin Schmidt felt all three of these - and 147 other horrible, burning sensations - after a dedicated life-long career devoted to insects. On numerous fieldwork trips, The University of Arizona entomologist would find himself digging up living colonies of creatures, who in turn were not happy with this destructive human scooping them into bags - and promptly sank their fangs, stingers or pincers into him. Still, no pain, no gain, and Schmidt turned his experiences into the Schmidt Sting Pain Index, ranking 78 species in a list which, while subjective, was put together by the man who must surely know best, ranking their pain on a scale of 1 to 4.

6 Food Challenges for the Super Competitive or Super Hungry

Here are a few places where you can get your meal for free – if you’re up to the challenge of wolfing down ten percent of your body weight in one sitting. If you scoff at the idea of a quarter pounder, maybe Denny’s 15-pounder will wipe the smile off of your face. The 20-inch patty comes on a 17-inch bun and includes two onions, a whole head of lettuce, 25 slices of cheese, three tomatoes and lots of mayo, mustard, relish and ketchup. If you and a friend can get the whole thing down in three hours or less, you’ll get the $30 burger for free. Apparently that wasn’t enough for Denny, though. Just last year, he introduced the 123-pound burger. That’s not a typo. One hundred and twenty-three pounds. It’ll set you back $379, but you get 80 pounds of meat, a pound of lettuce, ketchup, relish, mustard and mayo, 160 slices of cheese, five onions, 12 tomatoes, two pounds of banana peppers, 33 pickles and, of course, a 30-pound bun.

10 Latin Phrases You Pretend to Understand

Because you weren’t going into botany, the priesthood, or coin manufacturing, you thought you were safe to dismiss Latin as a dead language. Obviously, you didn’t graduate cum laude. Whether you’re deciphering a cryptic state seal or trying to impress your Catholic in-laws, knowing some Latin has its advantages. But the operative word here is “some.” The ability to translate The Aeneid probably isn’t going to come in handy anytime soon, so we’ll start you off with ten phrases that have survived the hatchet men of time (in all their pretentious glory).
